nature as your companion

grounded, sensory and affirming therapy

walk & talk sessions + ecotherapy journalling

Everything moves differently under open sky.

Real talk: Walking in natural environments has been shown to reduce stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline while boosting mood. Researchers have found that time in nature enhances problem-solving and creative thinking. Combining physical movement with therapeutic conversation also supports better sleep and circulation, and can ease anxiety by taking the pressure off direct eye contact that traditional face-to-face counselling requires.

Walk & Talk Moving Counselling Sessions are 1 hour

Choose from 5 trails in the Northside Suburbs of Melbourne, Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country

$75 per session

In our sessions, we may work with:

  • reflection & conversation; sometimes you just need to talk it through

  • patterns of tension, collapse, or activation

  • emotions, feelings, fears, worries, joys, hopes

  • how stress and trauma have shaped the way you respond

  • how your system finds its way back to safety

  • your lived experience, honoured

  • relational fractures, the ruptures, repairs and grief of change

  • life transitions and the ground shifting beneath you

  • your identity, and how you've come to know yourself

  • practising new ways of responding, relating, or being

  • somatic exploration, stream of consciousness, active imagination, tapping, regulation activities, creative therapy

Sessions together will recognise that our experiences live not only in our thoughts and patterns but also in the nervous system and body.

Stress, trauma, grief, pain and life transitions as well as joy, growth and pleasure all leave their mark. These shape how we respond to the world and how safe or overwhelmed we feel.

You may arrive feeling overwhelmed, stuck in patterns that keep repeating, or disconnected from your own body.

Over time, you may notice:

  • a deeper sense of connection with yourself

  • reduced anxiety and overwhelm

  • feeling supported in your agency and autonomy

  • increased awareness of body signals and boundaries

  • more capacity to respond rather than react

  • relief from chronic tension or shutdown

  • deeper trust in yourself and your own instincts

  • steadier, more grounded sleep

  • stronger, more honest connection with the people around you

For many people, the most meaningful shift is simply feeling more at home in their body and unique experience.

I’m Deanne Love (she/they), a counsellor based in Coburg, Melbourne (Naarm) with a Masters of Counselling, Bachelor of Education and decades working with humans finding their way back to themselves.

I’ve been a movement facilitator (specialising in hula hoop and circus arts) since 2008, guiding people to reconnect with their bodies through rhythm, sensation and embodied awareness. My work blends somatic inquiry, pleasure activism and trauma-informed counselling.

Alongside professional training, I am held by regular and ongoing support from my own therapist, supervisor and a nourishing community of creatives and queer folk who inspire, hold and compassionately challenge me.

My approach is deeply shaped by lived experience navigating chronic pain, cancer, queerness, relational trauma, and neurodivergence. All experiences that have transformed how I traverse this life.

About me

Woman, queer woman counsellor in Melbourne, with short hair smiling and sitting on a vintage leather armchair, holding a black poodle dog, wearing a leopard print top, wide striped pants, and sneakers.

I've walked through much of this myself. I know what it's like to sit with a diagnosis and feel your whole world shift. I know what it's like to carry childhood trauma into adulthood, and to move through the world as a queer, neurodivergent person navigating spaces that weren't built with you in mind. That's not the whole reason I do this work, but it's part of why I understand what I understand.
